Robertson High School has had a partnership with El Centro Family Health to provide students with hands-on training from healthcare professionals in Mental Health First Aid, reproductive health, diabetes management, and dating and domestic violence prevention.  Through this partnership, we now have 20 Mental Health First Aid-Certified student peer health educators on campus, further strengthening our school’s commitment to student-led health advocacy and support.

Coordinated by Mrs. Donna Ortiz, a high school science teacher and 24-year veteran educator, this collaborative endeavor ensures that students receive real-world knowledge and practical skills connected to science/health content to address critical health issues in our community.

Mrs. Ortiz advises the Dream Makers Health Careers Program, which she has led for 20 years, inspiring students to explore careers in healthcare.  Over her career, she has mentored and inspired hundreds of students who have gone on to become health care professionals in their communities.  Through mentorship and training from experienced practitioners, students are empowered to become informed advocates for health and wellness while preparing for future careers in healthcare.

We are deeply grateful to all the healthcare providers who continue to support and guide our students on their journey toward making  a difference in their communities.
