2020-2021 Las Vegas City Schools Reentry Plan

PRESS RELEASE

Thursday night, July 16, 2020 the Las Vegas City Schools Board of Education approved a reentry plan for the district. A unanimous decision was passed that the first nine weeks of the school year will be online beginning on August 31, 2020 as school officials seek to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among staff, students, and the community. Detailed parent and student schedules will go out to the community the first week of August on the district’s remote plan as well as the hybrid plan. (See sample below)

Once the state infection rate drops below 1.05, the district will then look at the approved hybrid model. Under a hybrid model, the number of students in the building at any time is capped at 50% of classroom capacity. The staff and students will adhere to the suggested six feet of social distancing.  Face coverings are required at all times except for eating, drinking and exercising.

Safety measures for remote learning the staff will be screened before entering the building. That will include a temperature check. According to the PED Reentry Guidelines, schools will take temperature checks ideally before students/staff enter the building.

On August 31, 2020 counselors will be available until 7:00 P.M. Monday - Friday as well as the Information Technology Technicians to assist with any situations that may arise during this time for students in grades K-12.

This is a very difficult time for all of us and hope we continue to all work together in a positive manner.
